A role has arisen for a newly qualified pensions solicitor to join the team at the Leeds office of this Legal 100 firm.
This national firm's pensions team is based largely in Leeds with lawyers also in London. The team has been banded Tier 1 in Legal 500 and Chambers for many years. The partners in Leeds are all involved in a wide range of different matters, so there is plenty of variety and scope to grow for a junior lawyer.
The work is hugely varied advising trustees of some very large and household named pension schemes, as well as the largest corporate organisations in Leeds and Yorkshire on their pension arrangements.
The team also handles pensions litigation and has a market-leading SIPP and SSAS practice, which sets it apart from other firms. The work involves advising on trust law, commercial terms, contract law, trustee governance, investments, corporate law and corporate support work.
The Leeds team, pride themselves as being a busy, high performing and cohesive team. At the same time, they have a modern approach to work and are active advocates of the flexible working policy.
In turn, they are looking for an ambitious junior pensions solicitor or someone interested in qualifying into a leading pensions team. Along with excellent communication skills, they seek candidates with excellent academics and a good grounding in trust law, commercial law and/or corporate law. They are also seeing lawyers who have a willingness to learn and develop commercial awareness, good social skills and plenty of drive and enthusiasm.
You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the partners and managing associates on more complex matters. You can expect to have good client contact and to play a significant role in working for clients that are key to the team.

Work includes restructuring advice, funding issues, the closing of schemes, TUPE and corporate support. They are also sometimes involved in contentious matters.
