Court of Protection Solicitor
This is a newly created role at a Legal 500 firm for a specialist Court of Protection Solicitor to take over an existing caseload and be part of the Private Client department.
The firm are a panel deputy for the Office of the Public Guardian and the Court of Protection, they also have several of the Private Client fee-earners as Members of Solicitors for the Elderly, so have a particular expertise for older and vulnerable adults, dealing with complex issues relating to mental capacity, financial abuse, powers of attorney, advance decisions and Court of Protection applications.
The ideal person would have some previous experience in this area of law such as; applying for appointed deputies, or act as a deputy, offer practical advice, make decisions relating to property, finances and the welfare of the person who lacks mental capacity, prepare LPA's, set up trusts, act in contentious situations and act as an expert witness for litigation lawyers.
Given the nature of this work, you must have strong communication skills and sensitivity.
